1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
Name, email address, and password when you register
Profile photo and username
Listing content including photos, descriptions, and prices
Messages sent to other users
Payment information processed through Stripe (we never store card numbers)
Information collected automatically:
Device type, operating system, and app version
General location (city level) based on GPS or IP address
Usage data including screens visited, features used, and session duration
Error reports and performance data
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide and improve the MarketLive service
To show nearby listings based on your location
To process payments through Stripe
To send you notifications about messages and activity
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
To comply with applicable legal obligations
3. Location Data
We collect your approximate location to show nearby listings. We never display your exact address to other users. You can disable location access in your device settings, though this will limit app functionality.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with:
Stripe — for payment processing and fraud prevention
Supabase — for database infrastructure and authentication
Legal authorities — when required by valid legal process
5. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting privacy@marketliveapp.com.
5a. Deleted Message Retention
When you delete a message or conversation within the app, the content becomes immediately invisible to you. However, for security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance purposes, deleted messages are retained on our servers for a maximum of 30 days from the date of deletion, after which they are permanently purged.
Deleting a message only affects your view — the other conversation participant will still see the message.
Deleting a full conversation hides it from your list; the other participant is not affected.
If the other participant sends you a new message after you have hidden the conversation, it will automatically reappear in your list.
Deleting your account results in the anonymization of your messages in accordance with our account data policy.
6. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to:
Know what personal information is collected about them
Request deletion of their personal information
Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)
Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

7. Do Not Sell My Personal Information
MarketLive does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. To submit a data request, email privacy@marketliveapp.com with the subject line "Privacy Request".
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
MarketLive is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately. Users must confirm they are 13 or older during registration.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Row Level Security (RLS) is enabled on our database. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
